In January, you can travel to various places throughout the month for a number of festivals including "Twelfth Night" Winter Beer Festival in Derby, England; Big Beers, Belgians & Barleywines Festival in Vail, Colorado, USA; and Great Alaska Beer and Barleywine Festival in Anchorage, Alaska, to name a few.

As you can there are drinking festivals all over the world every month of the year, however, the most popular drinking festivals of all times is the Oktoberfest in Munich, Bavaria , Germany . This is the largest and longest drinking festival in the world. People from all over the world flock to Munich for this unique and historically festival with an estimated six million in attendance. In 2007, the Oktoberfest will begin on Saturday, September 22 at noon and will last until October 7.
Beer will be served through the week from 10am until 10:30pm and on weekends and holidays from 9am until 10:30.
The beginning of Oktoberfest was for the commemoration of the marriage of Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen, which took place on October 12, 1810. The first festival included a horse race on October 17. From this day forward, the Oktoberfest has grown into a world-renowned event with many activities, rides, delectable foods such as sausage , hendl , käsespätzle , and sauerkraut , along with many Bavarian delicacies.
Other cities all over the world try to mimic these unique festival by having one of their own in October such as in America, Big Bear City, California ; Campbell, California ; Alpine Village in Torrance, California ; Cincinnati, Ohio ; Denver, Colorado ; Kitchener-Waterloo , Ontario , Canada ; and Blumenau , Brazil .
